DJ and radio star Black N Mild has died aged 44 of coronavirus. The musical personality - whose real name was Oliver Stokes Jr. - died on Thursday after he tested positive for the deadly bug. The Orleans Parish coroner's office confirmed his death the following day. He was known and loved by his fans as a New Orleans bounce DJ and radio personality. The radio star was admitted to University Medical Center on March 11 after he contracted the killer bug. Before he went into hospital, Black N Mild reached out to his Facebook friends when he fell sick. In a post, he wrote: "I haven't had the flu in years... this sucks monkey balls." The well-loved DJ suffered from a fever which gave him a 102.4-degree temperature. After suffering from the fever, he first took a trip to the doctors on March 9. Black N Mild updated his fans and friends alike about his condition on social media on March 11. He wrote: “Pneumonia not the flu.” The DJ built up a loyal following after he spent years playing at clubs, bars and events. His job spurred him onto relocate to Houston where he hosted Rhythm and Bounce. His show played on Saturday nights on a New Orleans AM station from 2013 until 2017. Black N Mild had rubbed shoulders with the great and good of the music world including Drake, Lil Wayne and Big Freedia. Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson, both 63, were the first celebrities to go public with their positive COVID-19 diagnosis. Idris Elba has since revealed he tested positive for the bug.
